At most it's going to get a drop in defence while it gets a boost in speed and sp/attack.

Obviously some of what Mewtwo used to be matters, or you wouldn't be able to recognize it. And why wouldn't they redesign it based on what looks cool and new? What else are they going to do, design him to look lame and old? Are you actually that retarded?
