Okay can you people stop calling this thing ice cream? It's a fucking icicle. That makes it worse, like they tried too hard to grasp a concept for a pure Ice-type. Same for Cryogonal. For the most part Ice feels like it's either forced or just tacked onto Pokemon.Don't get me wrong, things like Mamoswine are still badass.

Because fishes and squids and seahorses aren't obvious water types, most grass types aren't just green things, plants, or things with plants on their bodies, bugs aren't just bugs, dragons aren't just dragons, ghosts aren't based mostly on common ghost stories, steel types aren't just things made of metal nor anything remotely like that, right?

Pokemon just are mostly obvious.

And Vanilluxe is an ice cream cone. And I love it

A lot of Ice type Pokemon feel like forced concepts, like they could have been tied to other types like Water. I don't get why Smoochum and Jynx are Ice. I don't get why Sneasel is Ice (with Weavile it seems like they tried to force an excuse by calling it a snowland dwelling preadator but does that really have to make it Ice?). Yeah there are some Youkai-based Ice Pokemon and that's cool and all but does it really justify a whole type's existence? We really didn't get any Pokemon that were purely Ice-type until Gen 3 and yeah, didn't seem like they had much in the way of good ideas. I just hope Fairy doesn't wind up the same way. There also aren't too many Ice-types that take advantage of their typing mechanically as well. Ice Beam is a great move because of all that coverage. How many competent Pokemon can abuse it with STAB? Very few, sadly. There aren't too many strong physical Ice moves either. (cont)

Ice Shard is nice priority for those damn Dragons and Icicle Crash is kinda weak for what it is, especially considering its minimal distribution. If Ice is to improve as a type family, we really need more glass cannons and not pseudo-walls or anything as the type seems to be focused around. All I'm saying is that Ice feels like a type that's flawed conceptually and mechanically to me.

Yeah, I admit it's kinda hard coming up with good concepts of mono-ice mons, but I still like Vanilluxe, which clearly is an ice cream cone (it even got one of those cookie ice cream snaxs, come on, even its name makes you think on ice creams).

If anything didn't need to become a separate type, that would be bug. There's no reason to have a type just for insectoids (and bug is my second favorite type, but it makes no sense except for the whole bug catching inspiration thing).

And if anything is useless as a type in mechanics it's poison (and that's my favorite type there).

About the mono typing thing... flying.

As much as I like Bug I do agree, it's kind of an obtuse thing to have as a Pokemon type. Rock/Ground is kind of a strange conflict too really. It's really a shame about Poison, yeah. There's several Pokemon that could just be pure Flying instead of Normal/Flying but I suppose that's GameFreak's call that they don't think it can work alone often. But at least Flying can embrace a load of concepts and it has proven that for its entire existence in these games.

It's based on and meant to look like ice cream.
I have nothing against the Vanilluxe line, but it is still supposed to look like an ice cream cone.

Last winter. I ran out of waffle cones and ice cream so I broke off an icicle from my rooftop and put took some snow and flavored it with cranberry vodka and put it on top of the icicle. It was good.

what's wrong with ice type pokemon made out of ice though? Regice was like the first one of it's kind right? All the previous were like some animal or monster that had ice-like abilities or just lived in cold environments giving it an ice type. I for one welcome more pokemon made of ice.
