If you can't trade in Pokemon from previous versions (or if you have to wait an ungodly amount of time to access the feature), I'll probably be trying to get a Snorlax/Munchlax somehow.

If Kangaskhan will not be avaiable Snorlax, if not Snorlax then Miltank.
We alredy know Miltank's going to be avaiable (if the trailers are based off actual game footage). Other than that, my team will be all gen 6... Unless Sewaddle is avaiable too, but I doubt it.

Maybe. There's also a bit of snowy area in the game so there may be a real chance of getting to use Froslass in a game other than Platinum.

I haven't played pokemon in a very, VERY long time, I think since 2000 or 01', X/Y was going to be my welcome back into the poke universe, it's pretty heartbreaking to hear this news for the first time so take it easy on me.

Dude, you can't have 700+ pokemon in just the main "quest". After the Elite 4 more Pokemon will be surely avaiable, but there's a really slim chance you'll be able to catch every single one of them.
