The anime solely exists to advertise for the game and it already does so well enough.

From a genuine point of view of someone that isn't entirely blinded in Ash hatred, it probably wouldn't be a consistently good show as much as you think it would be. Yes, it would be "EPIC" and "MATURE" and the first few episodes would probably be solid evidence of that, but it'd be such a hyped up show from fans all around that even it may be underwhelming some weeks.

Ideally, if you want a show like this, 26 episodes or bust. There is no excuse.

I like what they did with the Hoenn Grand Festival, where they brought back this guy who had appeared once, 100 episode earlier, and had him win the entire thing. Was a nice bit of continuity, and he was already established as a very strong trainer.

I dont really see how.
It's literally just setpieces from the game played out. It just seems more mature because it was only battle scenes.

That said, the animation and art is infinitely better than the current anime. But that's most likely because it was a short rather than a weekly thing.

Because the pacing would absolutely fucking horrid without tons and tons of filler that would just make it be the current anime but with a different MC every region and less original characters, though I wouldn't argue that it wouldn't be at least a tiny bit more entertaining.

If you're talking about the animation, that little trailer probably had two to three times the budget of a single episode of the anime if not more.

Because budget. You can make something look fucking awesome when all you have to deal with is a single trailer. You want the anime to be like that? Anime dubs don't pay much, so all the dub vas are shitty actors who can't get better paid jobs.
Also, anime dubs are either aimed at children too young to know quality, or anime dubtards who rarely watch anything beyond dubbed anime, and thus have become accustomed to such shit acting, even convincing themselves it's good. Thus, there's no reason for the dub studios to inject more quality in their productions.

It would do worse because the kids wouldn't like it since they can't connect with the MC for at least the start of the first season and the younger kids won't know what's going on because they won't recognize the formula.
Almost all the idiots screaming for an anime like the BW2 trailer would probably watch episodes online meaning there's no money going to the station or the animation company because they're not watching the actual channel and the ads on it.

Would an anime with this kind of quality be cool? Yes.
Would it be feasible to make on a weekly basis and maintain that standard of quality? Almost certainly not.

You want a good example of the Pokemon anime doing things right when given enough time to work? Look at the movies, especially the earlier ones. Ash is intelligent in his decision making, strong as a trainer, and written fairly well.

What I want to know is why Ash is forced to lose all the time?
Why can't he start the region out as a bad trainer (not knowing the Pokemon etc etc) and gradually improve his battling and start coming up with super intelligent "JUST ACCORDING TO KEIKAKU" plans by the later gyms and the league.
Then he wins the league and moves on to the next one.

He was mostly just dickish to people who didn't like him, ie Ash and Dawn. Brock was a lot cooler with the guy, so he didn't get that treatment.

The dub also rewrote his lines to an annoyingly large degree towards the end of the series, when he had grown a lot more respectful of Ash in the original.

talking about useless pokémon, how about a 12 episode story arc where ash drops off two pokemon at the day-care, gets dozens of eggs and walks around the day-care till they hatch (and occasionally switching one of the parents with a better newborn) only to find out they're not what he had in mind, and when he's sick of it in episode 12, he picks a relatively superior one he hatched 5 episodes earlier and calls it a day
in the meanwhile, the leftovers are send to professor oak's lab and start a gang wars with ash's tauros

Instead of getting a Starly that doesn't have aerial ace and wasting time training it, he gets a Starly with the move.
This is similar to how people see pokegen/savers.

Long term animes like Pokemon are generally terribad, full of lazy animation and destruction of the source material. As much as we would like to see this, the director of the pokemon anime has no intention of stopping what hes doing. I'm sure GF would like to try something like this for their baby but I doubt they want to lose the source of whats been probably been giving them new fans for the past 10 years

Gym leaders, according to Cheren in BW2, have different teams for different people. After you beat him he states he wants to use his 'real team' or something.

Just because WE start in that town and he's our first badge, it doesn't mean he is the first for everyone.

I have conflicting feels about it all.

On the one hand, I haven't had any interest in the pokemon anime since kanto. Also I'm in my mid twenties. If they released a movie in the style of the B2W2 trailer, without ash and his friends, and starring older characters, I'd be more likely to watch it. But of course I'm not their target audience.

There'd be no reason that you'd have to stop the ongoing anime to replace it with stuff like the trailer. You can just keep the series going and do a few movies with different protags and stuff. I think they did that at some point anyway, didn't they? A ranger movie or something?

On the other hand, I've always liked that the pokemon games give just enough characterization to their characters to let you imagine their adventures, relationships, and personalities. Having canon answers to all that stuff would take away a little bit of the fun.

I guess a lot of those characters already have that stuff in the existing anime though, and it doesn't bother me because I don't watch it.

So basically I don't care either way. I'd watch a movie done in the trailer style, though.

No, that's a reference to the fact that he misses his old team from B1/W1. Like the team that he raised as your rival. He says something like 'If I had my old partners...!'

I always thought it was weird we never find out what happened to them. Did they die? Or did Plasma get them?

I think she just has a Serperior because it makes a cooler fight for the trailer.

I think they could easily do individual movies or short OVAs based around different characters, that way they could still keep Ash doing what he's been doing for god knows how many years at this point while trying out new things. At least, that's what I'd like them to do - for all our bluster about needing to retire Ash it still probably wouldn't sell without him.

Special started out in Shogakukan's "Fourth Grader", "Fifth Grader" and "Sixth Grader" magazines. After they died, it moved to Corocoro Comic, which is a toyetic magazine aimed at early grade schoolers and is full of material based around Beyblade and the like as well as Pokemon Fan, which is aimed at slightly younger kids.

It's never been printed in any publication intended to be read by anyone older than 12.

pretty sure in the call where he says that he wants them back, juniper says something along the lines of "the limitations are what being a gym leader is about"
seemed to be gym rules that dictated what he was able to use

though why he continues to only use normal types through the rest of the story is a mystery

90% of anime dubs these days are aimed at anime nerds of the "I only watch dubs" variety, and these kind of people rarely watch non-anime shows, and thus never get exposed to higher quality acting.
This way, it never occurs to them how much better acted these dubs could be, and the dubbers don't have to spend money hiring people who can do better jobs.

It'd be sad if it wasn't so well-deserved.
