I miss that bro so much, man. It's been so long I hardly remember him, but he got me through every single Gym in Crystal when I was just a little kid. I didn't even know what half of the stuff was in the game. I just knew that my Quilava was going to wreck shop for me.
Loved that thing to death, I named him Speedy because he was one fast motherfucker. Always imagined him curling up in a little ball beside me when we were tired from the day of adventuring.
I was too young to understand what to do and I never finished Kanto, but I always had Typhlosion with me. Never was the same as Quilava, but was all the same bro- deep inside.
Then I lost my Crystal cartridge. Sure I got new bros (and sistas): Treeko, Kirlia, Rilou, Turtwig, etc. but none were ever the same.
It's so sad that he could never come with me up through the generations, even if I had my old Cartridge. In XY, I'm going to trade for a Typhlosion and breed a Cyndaquil and raise him in Speedy's namesake. His spiritual successor, he'll live up to his name. That's all I could ask.
