If you don't think a possessed sword isn't a classical monster fit for enslavement into wide-scale gladitorial combat you are literally retarded. There is absolutely nothing more iconic than a weapon with its own malicious will. Stories of haunted, blessed, cursed, and otherwise powerful and intelligent weaponry predate the stories of fairies, dragons, kappas, giant squids, and everything else that you think is "okay" for a pokemon to be about. That it took this long for there to be a sword pokemon is the real confusing tragedy here, not that it's finally been done. Do you people even listen to yourselves?
