- The people "sick of Smogon's bullshit" are nothing more than a vocal minority. No anti-Smogon project or server on /vp/ or elsewhere ever reached more than about 50 members.
- /vp/ as a whole isn't big enough to warrant its own server. You need at least a few hundred concurrent users to assure that everyone can always find matches without unreasonably long queue times. /vp/ simply isn't as popular as some people seem to believe.
- The metagame/ server/ whatever would actually have to offer something Smogon doesn't. The real problem here is that - and I'll try to word this as carefully as I can - a lot of people who want to create their own personal meta are subpar players with little to no understanding of... anything related to Pokemon, really. Smogon at least guarantees that no one without a minimum of competency (read: suspect reqs) will ever get to make any changes to any metagame.
