The least spoken language on that list is Italian at about 59 million speakers.

It'll be a long while before Kannada would be added. Certainly not before Hindi, Russian, Portuguese, etc etc etc

South Korea has a population of 50 million. Technically more people speak Korean when you count North Korea, but practically Korean is the least spoken option among those.
On the other hand, I don't know how well the games actually sell in Italy and South Korea, which would be more relevant.

It is the language that matters, PAL + NTSC parents that are both in the english language do not increase the chance for a shiny, but PAL + PAL parents found in different language games do.

Aren't the actual games different though...I mean, the code that's on them. The US games always have that XXX-XXX-XXX-USA at the end, signifying that it's a US copy of the game.

I'd figure that would be used to determine the "location" of the game, since they're region locked and all and you can't just take a jap game and stick it in a US 3DS.

If not, maybe it looks at something internally on the actual 3DS; since people can also download the game via eshop.

If not, maybe they're taking it away and replacing your easier shinies with the Shiny Charm

I am going to bet that there is a single region free game image that is shipped around the world and what sets your games region is what language you selected at the beginning, it was said that you cant change the language setting again unless you start a new game.

I don't say I don't agree with you.
Move translations are sure-fire to be awful. Heck, we already have lots to complain from jp->en translations (using "comet punch" for consecutive punch, then having to pull meteor mash from the ass when the real comet punch appears is just a minor example)

Yes but for the majority of people it goes from JP name > english name and with that chain some moves/abilities get fucked up really bad, now add portuguese to that chain and Dançaroni Eduardo quere batalhar appears out of the fucking blue.
Abilities would get the most funnier translations ever oh noes metagross's corpo sexy prevented the H1N1 stat
