Has anyone here create their own pokemon rom? How difficult is it? Are different generations easier? What resources can I use to help me learn?

Not very
Gen 3, easiest to run and easiest to find sprites for everything.

Yes, although I remember a while back a ROM of Emerald with the split was mentioned, so if that's what you want, I would suggest using that as a base

ROMhacking is very easy, but if you want to make an in-depth ROMhack and don't know rubikon, you're fucked. It doesn't help that the most recent tutorials are from 2007.

Yeah. Manly Pink and Flora Sky did those things I think. FloraSky has the split and ManlyPink has the exp + Gen V Pokemon.
