>>12933135They just needed to focus on each character more and make them more important.
That said, they could have given each human a Fusion Evolution with which to fight.
That said, they did the fight with Cherubimon correctly (disregarding the inaction of everyone besides Takuya and Kouji). If the fights would have been more like that (especially the Lucemon Chaos Mode fight, he practically ASKS to get sliced in half by Celestial Blade and stands still DIRECTLY in its path for a good EIGHT seconds)
The only reason it WASN'T developed well (besides the obviously bad dubbing at certain times) was because every ten year old at the time was getting all butthurt, saying "WAAAAHHHH. WHERE ARE MUH PARTNER DIGIMON? WHY IS THIS POWER RANGERS NOW?" when the Spirit Evolution concept was such a good idea.
They even could have expanded on the Spirits themselves. We only see a Spirit really even talk (besides the Evil ones before they're captured) when Takuya gets his panties in a bunch when trying to move a broken elevator and needs a moving speech to give him the cliche will to go out and outright curbstomp Lucemon.
And about the characters, I liked every single one of them. Takuya, Tommy, JP, Kouji, Koichi, Zoe, all of them. It was really too bad that they never really had any time to strengthen that bond as friends. I do remember that one time (in the dub, of course) where Kouji called JP "Jeep." Sure it might have been random, but that's only something you do with a good friend, give them a nickname. It was a nice touch and the relationship between the characters could have been much better if they had thrown in more bits like that.
Frontier was really my favorite, and it makes me so sad to realize that it could have been the best, but flopped so terribly all because people were too unwilling to embrace such a nice change of pace.
