I'm a Hoennbaby, but I have to say Gen 4. The physical/special split and the big graphic jump were both great improvements. Gen 4 also has HeartGold SoulSilver, which are two of the most successful games/remakes in the series.

I'm mostly considering unique titles. 4 would be over 1 for HGSS, but the mainline games were just not impressive as a whole. The split was great, and the graphic jump was decent, but the pokemon added sucked donkey dick.

I mean when you're walking outside of the lighthouse it looks like the player is floating.

What are you talking about? Gen 1 had the post plot, story, and lore. It was very minimalist, but it was all there. You just can't see it because you're not a real Pokemon fan who played the games back then.

Gen 3 has the most engaging plot.
You have 2 factions vying for power, trying to alter the ecosystem, it remains in the realm of realism.

Gen 5 is all about plot and story but it feels shoved down your throat, and the plasma uniforms are ugly, so it's less than 3.

The rest is self explanatory.
