Its not opinions, though, its just facts. Trust me on this, I've gotten several shinies with relative ease this way.

All you're doing is making it incredibly tedious for yourself, and the odds are not in your favor. Every egg I hatch is roughly 8 times more likely to be a shiny than any of your SR's.

Do it. Before B/W2 came out I wanted to breed myself a shiny tepig to use in my playthrough. I spent a few months breeding eggs with no luck. When it was the night before release I decided to pull an all nighter determined to get that golden Tepig before I got the game.

I ended up hatching a shiny a 7 AM and he has been my bro ever since.

it took me four days of SRing, looking for any (besides chikorita, ug)shiny starter, found a pink/gold cyndaquile. that feeling of finally seeing it was the best kind of feel. i have spent WEEKS SRing for bulbasuar in LG though. still going though. good luck

I don't usually SS for starters because of all the talking u must do, way faster with legendaries. Currently hunting for a Regice on sapphire still on the first day though. Anyway hang in the OP and disregard the hate comments shiny totodile looks awesome.

the most mixed emotions ive ever had over a shiny was when i was playing a randomized run on emerald...I got a squirtle early on and went to train him in the forrest and wouldnt you know it, a shiny groudon appears...ive never been so conflicted
