It is an answer. Female characters are supposed to look cute in the popular belief, male ones are supposed to look "cool". And Calem and Nate certainly don't look cool. Lucas is the gayest after them (if you don't count HGSS Ethan). Brendan is borderline, Gold is practical but lacks aesthetics, and Red/Hilbert are confirmed coolest designs of the series.

Brenden's Emerald outfit was pretty cool. And I honestly like Nate's outfit. I guess I like when the male protags have designs are colorful an detailed as their female counterparts. Most of them are so plain. Red/Blue jacket with black/blue pants.

Both Steven and Wallace are in the Champion Tournament at the PWT. It's safe to say he beat Wallace and took the Championship, as FR/LG are concurrent with R/S/E, making HG/SS happen at a later date, and B2/W2 even longer after that.

Nope. There's been a bunch of Lasses in screenshots and they all looked the same, plus there's official artwork of her. Registering NPCs in the PSS is probably the new Vs. Seeker/PokéGear, or maybe you'll be able to set your appearance to that of an NPC.

We don't know that yet, the only thing we've seen of the customization so far is the little PSS headshots. They probably just went with only changing the collar color for the headshots so they wouldn't have to sprite a lot of collars too. Otherwise the collar design would match with their official designs rather than just being a generic collar, you know?
