>>12953364>Team Plasma cloning MewtwoIt makes sense for them to experiment with this kind of stuff. Especially genetically altering that thing, so they know how to build a perfect Genesect.
And I guess - without Amber - Mewtwo has less reason to think of his existence since he did not lose anybody. Which is also kind of sad because that was one of the things I liked about Mewtwo. He had some kind of personality. This one will most likely be just a protector.
And I don't really like that. Mewtwo is already protector of some city, so it would be a nice connection. And also - because of his prior hatred on humans - it would have been a really nice parallel to Genesect. So they fucked that up.
But I do understand their reasoning behind it. That the same Mewtwo would suddenly gain a new form would piss people off - especially since there was no sign of it prior to that. And with no build-up, it'd just come across as a marketing thing. Which it is, obviously.
But it's better to do it like this - that way, the first movie won't get damaged.
Having that said, "Extremespeed Genesect" will be a boring rehash of the first movie - just with more fights and less themes. It will lack the personality the characters had (that is, Mew and Mewtwo's character) in the first movie.
Sure, a Genesect cries, great. But I really don't think it will play an important role. Might take 5 minutes for it to be suddenly a hero and fight against the villainous Genesect.
So... most likely, lame move, lame excuse. Mewtwo's form wasn't necessary, but I do like the take they're going with this. Might be the case that the profs are also from Gen VI, so yeah, might be neat.
