I really expected Light type, just because "Dark" Pokemon were introduced in the TCG, and later on they had a counterpart "Light" type. I know they weren't dark as in typing, but still.

And all Pokemon fight and none are very normal at all, and a lot are made of water. Sound has enough sound-based moves, Pokemon, and and ability based on it to be a type without feeling shoehorned. Light is shitty, though. Fairy is okay if they stray from pixies.

And they are keeping Sound for Gen 7, after they made Ice even better than Steel in Gen 6

This. I think when most people suggest Light type they mean it as in "holy" or especially benevolent.

"Holy" would generally be a sub-section within entire classes, such as priests, clerics, or paladins. Pokemon does not have classes.
