Hasn't it been confirmed that you don't get your Kalos starter from a professor? It would make sense.

I think they'd give you your usual XY starter at the beginning, and then later on give you your choice of the Kanto starter you wanted. It'd be stupid to do both at the same time.

Gen I and II needed remakes, I'd hardly call that shoehorning and we've got to keep the streak going of having all the Gen I gym leaders and Red appear in every generation anyways.

If it's early in the game, Charmander. I'm picking Chespin so even though my favorite is Bulbasaur it'd be stupid to pick it. Late in the game it doesn't matter as long as I can transfer pokemon still since I have a completed pokedex between my HG and Black 2.

Squirtle is not an option. Fuck squirtle.
