In the japanese translation blue is the girl OP's dumping, and green is 'gary' (red's rival).
The reason for that is that when Gen I was first released in Japan, it was released as Green and Red, whereas in America it was released as Blue and Red. Thus the default name of the rival changed with the version changes. Then when they added the female player character in FR/LG, they added her as 'Green' in the American version and 'Blue' in the Japanese version, just picking the unused color for each language.
It's pretty goddamn confusing. Even the Japanese fanartists don't know which name to label the characters as half the time.
