The reason it's a common trope is that it suggests that the monster is gaining more control over their power, thus reigning in the utter monstrousness and achieving an idea of perfection.

The new Metwo form is "Awakened", and it has become more similar to Mew; it is shorter, it floats, it's gained some pinkness. According to the at-this-point-beyond-a-doubt-confirmed PokeBeach leaks, Mewtwo gets ANOTHER forme this gen which is even MORE like Mew than the Awakened Forme.

In other words, Mewtwo, which begins as a hideous sci-fi monstrosity of a clone, becomes more and more like its "True" self as its power and control over it expand.

I think that's a perfectly valid use of the forme progression trope here.

Okay, now they need to justify his appearance in in the Gen 6 games.
Only in the Anime is Mewtwo a clone. In the games, as clearly stated in Red/Blue/FireRed/LeafGreen, Mewtwo is Mew's child.
"Mew gave birth. We named the newborn Mewtwo." was a diary entry in the Pokemon Mansion
He was then experimented on to be made powerful.

Well now, that's VERY interesting. It's been pretty much spot-on so far. That starter information is particularly eye catching. Froakie picks up a fighting type, eh? And dual-type attacks? That's some cray shit. VERY eager to see if the accuracy will persist, and if we'll really be seeing a third iteration of Mewtwo sometime soon.

No idea what next month's big reveal is gonna be, my suspicion is it's not anything that the PokeBeach leaker named (he certainly didn't name every big new thing; for instance, he never mentioned the Horde Encounter system, which is a huge change)

It lists "Super Training" and "Pokemon-Amie" seperately.

It also lists "riding pokemon" alongside rollerskates. And the Pokebeach leaker suggested that this feature was exclusive to gogoat. Though WPM said that this particular announcement was handed to him around the time that the leaker's friend started leaking bad info to keep him from being caught, so perhaps that tidbit is false.

Perhaps the experimentation warp it into the Mewtwo from Gen 1. The rumor going around is that it changes forms based on DNA related held Items, so maybe the held items allow him to fix the damage done and be more like the Mew it was supposed to be.

Well obviously they tried cloning the thing again because it didn't work the first time, and it of course didn't work this time either. However at least they seem to have gotten a little closer since he's more Mew than Two now.

It's the anime. Despite the fact that you have the whole type match ups, there's the fact that Pokemon can actually just make physical contact or dodge or whatever.

People need to start realizing that in a setting outside of the gameplay, that there's more aspects.
