What is the best nature for an Espeon? I think modest is not useful because it already has a huge Sp Atk, so should I go for higher HP, defense or special defense?

For competitive? Modest or Timid is probably best. The metagame's incredibly specialized, so instead of patching up weak spots, it's generally best to just focus on your strong points.

In-game? Well, really, anything that doesn't lower Speed or Special Attack is fine. If it lowers Attack, it's golden.

Max SP. Attack EV Espeon is good enough for moi.

As a rule, it's more efficient to raise high stats with natures, and lower stats with EVs

Give it Modest or Timid, if you want to raise it's defenses so much give it high EVs there and solved.

Generally in Pokemon, you want to capitalize on your Pokemon's statistical strengths, not try to make up for their weaknesses (you have other Pokemon for that). Modest and Timid are the best for Espeon because it's geared to be a Special Attacker, and those nature both lower its Attack (which it doesn't use) and increase its Special Attack (making it hit harder) or Speed (making it hit faster)

Timid is great if you want to outspeed some 'mons. If you want Espeon to rape everything, Modest is the nature you're looking for.

pretty much this since it's percentage based.
65/60 physical defense isn't really fixable.
you can make it pretty specially bulky by EV investing in HP and special defense.

Thing with espeon though is it prefers to switch into non-damaging crippling moves, like toxic or thunder wave or rocks to bounce them back, so going for a high special attack to punish whatever switches into you usually works best.
