I just recently got my hands on a second Gameboy and a link cable so after 13 of playing I can finally catch all fucking 151 of them.
I have caught most of them so right now Im just grinding the pokemon league to evolve everyone.

How many of you have actually caught every single one in a game and is it even possible to do in the newer generations?
Im talking about doing it alone without any action replay or other cheat devices

You need a ds/dslite and another ds with: leafgreen/firered, hg/ss, ruby/emerald/saphire, pearl/diamond/platinum, and b//w/b2/w2
You don't need all of them, like leafgreen AND firered, since you usually can pick up the ones you can't get in the other games. For event exclusives, if you don't have them by now you are fucked.

I'm pretty sure Toys R Us was passing out Mew or selling it for a couple dollars back in the day... I know for a fact I got a Mew at Toys R Us on my Red, just can't remember if I paid for it. I wasn't in a big city either.

That sounds right but I really think I remember paying like $5 for it. Or maybe I had to buy something in the store to get it. They weren't wifi back then you had to give the cashier your game with an open slot in the party and they used something similar to a game shark.

I know but they've never done that, its always been free. You go, you stand in line, go to the cashier, they put the mon on your game, you leave. Only GameStop has ever said you had to buy something and that was without GF's consent.

Well it was obviously used and so was the Gameboy. I got it together with a bunch of games
for a pretty fair price unlike every other person selling retro stuff

Hey OP

I managed 150 in Gen 1
then never completed the dex again until Gen IV, my Diamond has 493 caught. Did it again in W2

When you get all pokemons nothing special really happens does there?

I remember to have heard something like Oak just says "oh thats cool, thanks" and then you are done.

I could imagine a little more excitement if it happens in the newer gens but is that the case?

I've got the Pokedex completed - bar some event legendaries - on Black 2. It wasn't really that hard, since I already had the region Dex completed on a bunch of DS/GBA games, though transferring them over took fucking forever.

All you've ever gotten is a certificate. In BW2 you got a shiny charm, but I can't remember if thats for catching them all or for seeing them all.

They've never given you any big reward for it. Probably because its kind of a difficult thing to ask of most players and it would suck if you HAD to do it to get something or another. As an optional challenge it's fine.
