If you must have someone state the obvious shit of Pokemon every generation, get someone like Dawn who represents the newcomers to learn everything with Ash as a mentor/rival.
Make sure this newcomer and Ash have diverse teams so more Pokemon can be shown off.
Have Ash win the League, or at least make the battles he lose MUCH more rewarding to watch to the point where the viewer can say "Well, he lost, but he tried his hardest, there was nothing he could do.
Don't bullshit the older viewers, basically. It's smarter to widen the demographic as much as you can than it is to alienate one in order to grab new viewers.
