>>13019120Not a double edged sword. Sexual education has been statistically proven to drastically decrease teen pregnancy rates. In fact, there's a correlation between educated people and first born children. More educated people statistically don't have their first children until well into their adulthood, when they've settled with partners and have steady incomes. Less educated people tend to have children at earlier ages when they can hardly afford to even support their selves.
Sure, it takes one mistake that even a smart girl who's overcome by hormones to become pregnant, but overall it's a mistake she'd be making KNOWING the risks rather than one she'd make being ignorant of the risks or fed false information about the risks (hence, lots of states that even TEACH sex education not even teaching it ACCURATELY and telling lies, which in turn actually makes teen pregnancy rates higher for a number of reasons).
Look into the research behind it. Sex ed is in no way whatsoever a "double edged sword" if done properly and not articulated to subtly shame youth from having sex. A bigger issue lies more in societal pressures that glorify sex and look down upon those sexually inexperienced. That's a different story. I assure you, if there was no sexual education in American high schools in ANY state, you'd see a larger epidemic of teen pregnancy.
