In their defense, whilst I do think a Plague Doctor evo is unlikely, the beak is most likely a nod to them. To many nods to the miasma theory for it to be coincidence.

Considering how Swirlix is the counterpart to Spritzee, I think it'd be cool for Swirlix to evolve into some sort of disease. Like the cotton candy starts rotting or something. It could work, Fairy/Poison.

Guys come on i'm all for a plague doctor like some of you, but there is no way we are getting one we'll get a flamingo.

The concept of the plague doctor is way too ominous (edgy,dark, whatever you want to call it).

"Spritze" is German for "syringe" or "injection". Even the name is a play on some kind of doctor.

I think those who said it was going to evolve into a plague doctor never meant to say that won't keep the flamingo theme at least I never did
