Last night with my friends, playing Platinum, EV training my shiny Roserade.

Friend: Oh, Pokemon? I just beat Emerald! What are you doing?
Me: EV training
Friend: Nice, I finished that the other day
Me: (Surprised that he knows what EVs are) Really?!
Friend: Yeah, as soon as I got a fire stone I evolved my Eevee into Flareon. He's so good!
Me: ........yeah... Flareons cool...

I've actually found a group of people who still play gen 4+ Pokemon. Out of all of them, only one of them actually knows about EV training and the standard competive sets. It's quite funny since they just can't defeat my EV trained Tyranitar no matter how hard they try. I remain unbeaten to this day, despite having only one EV trained Pokemon.

The semi-competitive friend has a SubPunch Dusknoir. It would be a threat but my in-game team seems to be able to take it out before Tyranitar comes into play.

Although the other day I managed to beat my friend's team of lvl 100 Nuzlocke survivors with my in-game Pokemon at lvl 90, my Tyranitar at lvl 100 and my Absol at lvl 35 (don't have another strong Pokemon that isn't legendary). It was quite annoying since I kept overpredicting things.
