All gens have their share of good and bad pokemon designs. All regions have their merit and points of interest. All pokemon games have positive aspects, such that any love or hate directed towards a particular gen is nothing but personal preference.
Having said that, holy fuck the gen 5 pokemon names were absolutely disgusting. If I want to have shitty awkward and unpronounceable puns rubbed in my face every step I take, I'll drop by a gen /vp/ thread. Why couldn't they just have stuck with simple portmanteaus? Instead everything has to be 'clever', and we're fed strained turds like CONK-EL-DURRR and BISHAAARP. If there's one thing I cannot stand about gen 5 it's the contrived and groan-inducing pokemon names. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, OP.
