It actually could be a nice gimick

For example, if Orotto is buned by Flame Orb, his foliage becomes fire, and he becomes a Grass/Fire and the burn dissapeares.

If soaked with a water-type ove he reverts bac to Grass/Ghost (I want to believe)

I hate them too. They appear mid game because they're too strong yet fall behind after everyone evolves. I'm fine with two stage pokemon but single stages turn me off.

I think they will reveal a way to fuse two pokemon into one, a new evolution method, and this pokemon is one of them, dusclops and sudowoodo evolved into one unique pokemon.

I hate single stages because they don't have the aesthetic of something to look forward too besides moves. One of the things I love about training Pokémon is looking forward to the evolution.

Agreed. Pokemon get more badass in increments as they evolve. This one not badass enough to be a third stage evolution, but is too badass already to evolve into a more badass third stage.
