All the gen 4 leaders used at least one gen 4 pokemon. Admittedly, D/P had a problem where some types were so lacking that the leader had to use a different pokemon instead (Fire type being the biggest culprit) But at least they fixed that in Platinum.

I fucking love Johto, but I'll probably never go back rather than just play HGSS again

It's painful that some people will say GSC are the best in the series when HGSS exist

it's really just to spice up each version and also take advantage of what the games can do. It's silly for gamefreak to set up so much but leave it alone
