Specs is the better choice item, and even then it's not the best way to play contrary Serperior. As far as I'm concerned, the only way to play him is subseed. Leaf storm is obviously your main attack, but you should scout a bit before letting it rip, since so many things resist grass. Your last move should be either HP fire or glare. HP fire is obvious as it deals with most of things that resist leaf storm. Glare is an option that complements your subseeding and can cripple a number of Serperior's hard counters such as Heatran, Volcarona, and Dragonite (provided they don't have lum berries).
Any time I see some retard using contrary Serperior and doing nothing but spamming leaf storm I have to sigh.
