Never had this problem before replaying Emerald and telling myself to use Pokemon I don't often use. Had it again in White 2.

I also have this problem. Also, I always want to add pokemon not originally catchable in the game i'm playing in my team. If i'm playing Emerald, I want Kanto pokemon, and if i'm playing Fire Red, I want hoenn pokemon. I guess seeing high level pokemon of the same species of the ones in my team in the wild makes me value them less.
