How the fuck do I catch Raikou in Heartgold? I got him down to 1 HP, but no matter how many times I put him to sleep and start chucking ultra balls at him, it barely ever shakes once. Is there a better pokeball I can use?

I remember Entei giving me a hard time. I opted out of using Quick Balls because I had a Crobat with Mean Look. Still took me like a fucking hour to catch him though

I just caught Entei and Raikou in HG about a week ago, OP, and my strategy was Mean Look, Hypnosis, whittle down its life (always save beforehand), and throw Ultra Balls like there's no tomorrow. I got lucky with Raikou, catching it after only three or four balls, but Entei took a good twenty five to thirty balls. Patience, man.

I've been trying that for a while. Would Mean Look+Sleep+Ultra Balls work better than just hoping the fast ball works first time?

Also, I'm still hoping there's some easy way to get the beast on the same path without resorting to hoping that its there.

I already got a Mean Look/False Swipe/Hypnosis Gallade, I'm just wondering whether I should keep my strategy of going between violet city and the route below it until he appears, mean look, hypnosis, and then spam ultra balls, or if there are any improvements I can make to make it a bit easier
