Accept it, it will be possible to transfer pokémon to the new games.
If they wanted a total reboot they wouldn't let you interconnect the 2 generations of Global Link. This data is way more pointless yet they worked on its transfer.

this is not a route that can be taken
gamefreak makes a big deal out of deleting the pokemon from the previous generation, so you can't send it over a second time (or trade it to someone else and have them send it over, in the case of a duplicate check being for the original user, keep in mind that going by PID also isn't viable due to the rng mechanics in gen 3 being time from startup)

while your entire save is uploaded, the issue is that the only pokemon that gets removed from the cartridge at that time is the one you tucked in
they cannot remove the once per day tuck in limit which is coded into the gen 5 games, so you'd be stuck transferring only a single pokemon per day
on top of this, as they've already announced turning off the ability to tuck in because of the shut down, it's pretty much confirmation that they will not use that kind of system

i imagine your "achievements" in global link will be
1. pokemon doll collection completion
2. house ownership completion
3. dream world points/gardening beds

Yeah, GBA games used one type of link cable, GBC used another. You couldn't get around that.

2DS games communicate wirelessly one way, 3DS games communicate wirelessly differently. This was presenting GF an issue of E3. It may permanently prevent trading

It was physically impossible. The issue was with the hardware, not the software. If you were playing a GBA game you could only use a GBA link cable. If you were playing a GBC or GB game you could only use a GBC/GB pocket link cable.

Regardless of programming your game, that was how the system itself worked. The same problem is with the 3DS now.

Gen I and II had only 15 IVs and a different way of calculating EVs

Gen III introduced 31 IVs and overhauled the EV system as well as adding abilities and a new way to determine gender independently of IVs

They're two incompatible systems

No. 3DS games can communicate wirelessly with 3DS games.

DS games can communicate wirelessly with DS games regardless of the console its on.

3DS games cannot communicate wireless with DS games.

3DS games on the system CAN communicate with DS games in the cartridge slot. Which actually, is probably going to be how it's done if GF finds a way

If you're talking about the dreamworld for XY, I doubt nintendo would go as far to let you require wireless internet connection to play their games.

Just so you all stop arguing, here's how it is:
Just like the Dream Radar app, there will be a new app for the 3DS
You insert a DS Pokemon game, and the app transfers them from the cart to the app (one way transfer, no backsies)
Then once you get to a certain point in the game (believe it or not, its NOT Lumiose City, but at least its before the E4) you can transfer the Pokemon from the app to your game.
There actually is no mini-game,
But the app is $10, and that's only because we're trying to have Gen VI be standalone.
Deal with it, faggots.
