Every main group in the show is full of fail to me, so it makes no difference. At least they gave the girl something to do in AG and DP. May was shoehorned into it, though, and she was really close to being a Mary Sue at it. The most interesting thing was her rivals. Dawn, while her arc was more believable, didn't have anything interesting at all other than Ursula. Not to mention some points taken off for repeating this idea to begin with. I will not deny DP has some faults, but this was the best villain climax of all, and this also featured one of the key moments in the Ash and Paul rivalry. (not sure if there were others, I don't like to think of the anime in terms of dub seasons, but rather by saga)
