Keep in mind that release day could extend backwards to the day before, since Japan and other places on that side of the world will get it before everywhere else.

Also, most stores get the games a week before anyway, so it's not unusual for them to sell it two, three days before actual release.

I plan on beginning my avoiding of the intrawebs on 10/1 because of any last minutes leaks. But I'll be avoiding anything Pokémon related like the plague from like 10/9 until I finish the game because of early and international release.

I know they have to stock before they can sell them, but I was mindblown when I saw a box of Black/White just chilling there on the floor unattended at a Wal-Mart in Louisiana.
I was so tempted to grab one and run, except I had already preordered and paid off both copies at Gamestop anyway.

...it didn't though. We got them both in September 1998. The anime did beat the games by like three weeks (7th vs. 30th) but Nintendo Power had been hyping the shit out of the game for months by that point anyway, and somehow I managed to switch to your side of the argument midsentence.

I got a 3DS, Pandora's Tower, PC games, and PCX2 to hold me over, plus work.

I've also got the catalog on, so at worst I'll see a thumbnail of a couple of early pokemon when leaks go wild.
