I don't mind emulation, if only just to play the game in single player mode. Emulation is pointless if you want to do link trading or moving Gen 3/4/5 Pokemon upwards to a real cart.

(Er, that doesn't count if you take the emulated game's SAV file and drop it into a flash cart, THEN trade from there.)

Although I highly doubt that you'll be able to emulate X/Y any time soon. So if you want that, you'll have to buy it.

Not everyone on /vp/ shares that sentiment. Personally I don't mind playing on an emulator. The only problem I have with it is DS roms on my PC run really slowly.
Emulate as much as you want. It's not like GameFreak is going to be bankrupt if a few neckbeards don't buy their games.
That being said, I've bought at least one game from each generation since Gen I.

With a game like Pokemon, emulating it already has a huge downside. Trading and battling become near impossible and even if you use a flash cart, you can't use the IR features.

And ROMs are good if you ever want to randomise it or stream/record it since the handhelds have no real way of getting good quality video from it (GBC/A had the GB Player for Gamecube, but that's tough to acquire nowadays). Not to mention that you can emulate the GBA games on your phone and not look like a complete sperglord whilst using public transport.

tl;dr: Who gives a shit whether a random stranger doesn't pay for shit? He has his reasons and I'm sure that he accepts that there will be no emulators for the 3DS.

I would too, but I don't want to fucking spend $100+ on the new DS and then buy games. Maybe if I were into it as much as some people here. I'm just not though. I used to be all big into the EV/IV/breeding thing, but with Pokesav and Pokemon Showdown being the true online battling forum, there's no point, at least from what I can see. Emulating is pretty much necessary if you want to do a Nuzlocke or any other run really.

But for a normal playthrough emulating would just bore me to death because I still prefer holding a DS in my hands to feel the Pokémon.

tl;dr there's nothing wrong with emulating and all the people who are against it need to be aware that it really hardly hurts GF of all gaming companies.

Emulators are fine if you legitimately cannot afford to buy the system of the games.

Emulating is NOT okay if you're just a cheap bastard who would rather waste their money on World of Warcraft game time cards, and the new Call of Duty game.

Support Game Freak if you can fucking afford it, if you can't, then go ahead and emulate IMO.
