I've noticed that most users on other boards are genwunners, why is that?

Especially on /mu/, when they do surveys, which includes favorite Pokemon, it's always Gen I. I've seen a post there where someone said Pokemon got shittier and peaked with Gen III and no one said b8 (it was on an archive so I couldn't reply).

Because the 1st games (and gen 2 to an extent) succeeded in attracting a mass audience, unlike the nerd fest that is BW2. Remember, this place is nothing more than a echo chamber for out of touch hardcore players. You guys don't count as the majority.

The second gamefreak wins back the average person, the mass audience, that'll be the day when Pokemon gets
back its "genwun" glory (and sales).

Game Freak will never win back that massive casual audience. The thing about casuals is just that, they are casual, and once their attention as an audience has left, it doesn't return. I'm just glad Game Freak, for the most part, just sticks to evolving the series rather than breaking their backs trying to reach that "expanded audience" again.

Tell that to the Wii. Nobody thought Ninty would come outta the dark ages that was the GameCube. and DP did bring back some lost players, seeing as how R/S/E terrible sales almost destroyed the franchise. I see that more as taking advantage of the DS's great install base.

But whatever. The fact that you're using words like "casuals" proves you don't know what you're talking about. Like I said, forums like this are an echo chamber. and you're just another fan content to wallow in gamefreak's mediocrity. (Expanding the audience and catering to fans are not mutually exclusive)

Because it was a fad. People played it because literally everyone in school was playing it. Then the fad died. That doesn't mean the series turned bad, it just means that the audience moved on to other things.

You really can't deduce this one yourself OP? Reference the chart, then give it your best shot.

If it's any consolation, the faggot genwunners on other boards are fairly balanced by the faggot nextgenners (or whatever stupid colloquialism you prefer) here on /vp/; I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if at least half of the regular posters here have only played the first two generations on an emulator.

I'd be willing to bet something tangible that the trend between the first four generations is pretty much the same in the official sales, even if some of the numbers aren't pinpoint accurate. If anything, it wouldn't bode well for later generations, since VGC is the only place I've ever seen that has RSE above 13.5 million, and official Nintendo numbers have proved that DP sales on the site are overinflated.
