I'm not a fan of Smogon's community, but I'll defend them in this case. The majority of competitive players don't like how OP stealth rock is. They use it because they understand how useful it is. Most people would welcome a decrease in stealth rock's power, but that doesn't mean they won't use it as it is.

It's not overpowered, it's just a common threat
If it poisoned you and always did at least neutral damage, and was unSpinnable, then it would be overpowered
