Im from russia and i saw both - the gun episode and the Tentacool&Tentacruel. I didn't even noticed that gun as a kid and don't know what's the big deal. And tentacool destroying city was like a badass Kaiju episode. And with a touching story too.
It also shows how Tentacool can do mind controll over other pokemon and the idea of having a giant Tentacruel is just awesome. Feel sorry fir kids from other country not seeing it.
