I'm working on a ROMhack called Pokemon Firered: The After Years/

The story is that Giovanni has revived team rocket and has started creating genetically modified super-pokemon.

I've only just added the starters, so I figured I'd showcase them.

Not much, I'm afraid. I just finished adding the starters. I've also added Abrute, an early-game mon that looks kinda like a muscle-bound abra.

I'll keep you posted on my progress, though.

The first two starters don't actually look too shitty, OP. But the third one...it's pretty clearly a Cleffa with burning bits tacked on. It just doesn't look that good, especially compared to the other two.

If you want to crank up the weirdness, do more than just the Pokefusions.
Make the generic town NPCs have bizarre, off-kilter dialogue whenever possible.
Have buildings be defaced, on fire, glitched, upside-down, etc.
Whenever you think of something sufficiently weird, put it in.

I'm sure it'd be better if you redesigned it a bit. It's some fire pokemon that's had it's genes spliced into a Cleffa. The fiery parts have to be merged with it as if they are a part of it. I'm sure there's a way to go about that, but I'm not an artist.

Here's a shot of the first Rival Battle.

I'm not sure if the rival's gonna actually end up in the hack, but for now, I'm just doing it to show how a battle with these fakmon would look.

I can't into backsprites, so I just flipped the frontsprites and used them for the backsprites (I didn't do it for Frostyke since he's already looking to the right.) I know it seems lazy, but trust me, you wouldn't want to play a game with backsprites made by me.

Here's an idea. Start a thread announcing that you're making a romhack using fused pokemon. This hack should contain some of your own pokemon as well as submissions from others.
That's how I would do it at least.

I did, though. I made a thread the other day saying that I wanted to make a ROMhack with fusions from the peopple at /vp/, and I asked for a fusion dump. Someone told me he thought I was lying, and that it was a "bullshit excuse", and then the thread just stopped bumping, so I decided to piss off and just take them from fusion threads.

Even the shittiest romhack,and boy are there many shitty ones, will be played and held up as great if it is finished.

Unfinished ones will always be kinda off-putting for many because you never know when you aren't able to play any further.

So yeah, the moment you haven't worked on it for more than three days is the moment you'll lose interest and stop working on it.

Oh and never ever ask /vp/ for ideas.
We're horrible when it comes to this.
Just look at Gen /vp/...

I don't frequent /vp/, so I can't really explain why there's a handful of idiots losing their shit over the fact that you haven't made 12/10, top-notch, pristine, Game-Freak quality sprites. They look fine for someone just having a little fun, hell I'd totally use the second one in a real game.

I would say just get more sprites together and try posting again sometime down the road and see what kind of reception you get. Even if it is mostly negative, fuck 'em and keep going. I for one would be interested in seeing how this turns out.

you have to make it from scratch or use gen 5 style and double the size of your mon
