One fine spring day, a beautiful young trainer was walking down the road, when she started getting tired. She spotted a small pond not to far from the road proper, and decided to rest there for a while. After a few minutes of resting, she noticed a pair of eyes upon her. A crogunk was hiding in the reeds by the pond's edge. "Hello," the small creature said, seeing that he had been noticed.
The girl gave a start, "D-did you just speak?! Pokemon can't talk!" she exclaimed. "Yes," the crogunk replied. "You see, I wasn't always this way. I was once a famous doctor, but failed to save a patient once, and was cursed by his spiritomb to life the rest of my days as a crogunk. It's so lonely here, since I'm the only pokemon who can talk, and I scare most humans away because of it."
The girl blinked, believing the story to be utter hogwash, however, she was intrigued by the odd little frog. "Alright then, how about I stay for a while longer and keep you company?" And so she did, and they sat and talked for quite some time, finding out that they had a lot in common. However, night came sooner than expected, and the girl had to go. "How about I come back tomorrow, and we can talk some more?" The little frog nodded with a huge grin, "Oh yes! Please do! You're the first person I've talked to in so long!"
And so, it became a part of the girls routine to stop by the pond every day, and talk to the crogunk. They whiled away hours just talking until one day, the girl had a confession to make. "Crogunk, do you think it's wrong to fall in love with a pokemon?" The crogunk laughed at this heartily and smiled wide. "Why my dear girl, I was hoping you would say those very words! You see, the curse can only be broken by love's first kiss. If you truly love me, then kiss me, and I will return to being a human! Then we can live happily ever after."
