Aside from shitty construction, I think the problem with a lot of these is that the elements they chose really don't look anything like the Pokemon. Like, so many of these have generic_furry_eyes_01, 02, etc that it completely ruins them. If you're going to go cartoony, stay in the Pokemon style; if you're going to go realistic, you can't have any cartooniness at all or it's simply an abomination.
