I got a 3DS at launch and I'm not happy with how flimsy it feels as well as the battery life on it. I'll probably by a 3DS XL along with X & Y so I can trade with myself because I don't want to play with other people. I have no problem with this to be honest.

I always buy both pokemon games, I might not buy them both on release day but i do like having access to playing both. I don't do it to trade with myself, I just like having the ability to place through both and see the differences and play the other protagonist as well. It's not the wisest way to spend your money but if you're enjoying yourself then why shouldn't you?

It makes doing gimmick runs/mono runs or whatever much easier to do on a handheld without having to revert to a ROM, which may not come out for X/Y for quite a while.

Also I have 2 3DS's already due to the upgrade to 3DS. I keep all my old systems, fuck trading in anywhere, period. We ride together, we die together nigga.

I ahve 2 3DS already because of the upgrade to XL, I've pre ordered both games and I'll be giving one game to my dad, my dad tries really hard to join in on things that his kids do, he's bought all different kinds of consoles and he can never get his hands coordinated in a way that he can play properly (like in first person games) ive let him try my older pokemon games but y'know mysavegame.jpg.gif.rar.exe, so he couldnt really get into it, so I thought id let him start off one for himself.

The only reason I would bother with getting a 2nd 3DS is if Nintendo makes a decent upgrade to it or unsurprisingly makes a 2nd 3DS a requirement to get Pokemon from X/Y to their sequel game(s) or to Gen VII.
