So, what exactly is a "Karenfag"? I mainly pick my parties based on which pokemon I like the most, while also taking types and moves into consideration. Am I a "karenfag" because I don't base my parties solely off smogon tier lists?

Define competitive play.

Casual: Plays whatever the game has to offer without caring, just enjoying the ride like most people do. Example: a kid, first timers.

Smogonfag: Plays the COMPETITIVE part of the game using the ""best"" strategies and mons. Caring more about the battle, and not the mons. Example: steriotype japanese tournament player.

Karenfag: Kinda like a mix between both, but instead of using the best strategies during the COMPETITIVE scene, uses your fav mons. Example: imagine Ash Ketchum irl.

Pretty much this except with less retarded mistakes.

Karenfags are people who will try and make a way to use their favorite pokemon in a competitive battle because they care more about being able to use their bros than about the results.

Smogonfags are the opposite: people who will only use the "best" strategies with set pokemon parties with set skills, natures etc because the results are more important to them than what pokemon they are using.

A karenfag is a type of player who only hates smogon because their favorites are either NU or Ubers and believe in the heart of the cards to win. If you bring up things like a pokemon's stats and movepool to judge how good it is a Karenfag would get buttfrustrated and call you a tryhard smogonfag just because "you don't like a pokemon for its design" or MUH BROS, basically Karenfags are like little kids who level up their charizard only in a Pokemon Red run and teach it Fire Blast, Cut, Slash, and Wing Attack.
Smogonfags are like Paul in the anime, only caring about a pokemon for how good it is.

Both sides believe their the right ones, and hate the other. If you play to win you're called a smogonfag just because "hurr hurr u can only hav fun if u win wut a looser"

I disagree. I only use pokemon I like while also taking in consideration their niches.
Instead of using the pokemon considered strong for that niche, I look for other options I like more that fill similar roles and patch up possible weaknesses by tweaking the rest of my team.
