That's because the points of interest are all arranged in a sort of pattern.
The Colosseum looking thing is the center of the star-shaped region and all of the towns and shit extend out in lines towards the points of the star.

This isn't really a bad thing and will probably be mostly unnoticeable in the game but it does look a little engineered, for lack of a better word, looking at the whole region at once like this.

Nah, seriously, Pokemon games have been like this since the first came out. GF has given only better colours, graphics and some extras. X&Y aren't good or bad, they are just Pokemon, and if somebody decides to change this a lot of people will kill her/his family (pet included).

So? It was still a major mistake for them to have the same typing for a starter type for a whole three fucking generation, especially since they're all Physical oriented Pokemon. Besides, Chespin will probably be a fast physical Pokemon, not a defensive one. They don't really care too much about that stuff I'm sure. They just made Chespin and its evos and gave them that shitty type combination.
