Not the guy you were responding to... But being somewhere around 10 years old at the time of the RB release in NA, EVERYONE in my class at least tried it. If you were a kid in those days, you were at least somewhat familiar with it.

I can confirm that, back then, it was relatively well known. However, not everyone played it. I didn't play either red or blue until gen two was on its way even though I had heard and watched my classmates talk about the games.

Here in Brazil, Pokémon was only a thing anime-wise when I was a kid. It took a while for people here to even start to realize it was a game, and very few kids had it.

Games weren't big here yet, and were very expensive and hard to find.

Nope, they hate vegetarians, too. Remember, vegetarian =/= vegan. Vegetarians will still consume animal products (milk, eggs, fish, ect) in some capacity. Vegan diets are stricter.

The "decline" I was referring to was the decline in popularity. It wasn't a comment on quality, although the quality of a video game is very subjective.

Pokemon was originally just supposed to have two gens. Thanks to that massive popularity boom in the beginning the game was able to push past the original plan and become the franchise it is today.
