Remember Legend of Thunder? We should have kept having specials like that in other generations. The BW2 trailer should have been much more than that but the Mysterious Dungeon anime specials were also a fun romp too.
A lot of those Character of the Day stories were the same goddamn shit anyway, so I don't think it'd change the story much if we lost a couple of those along the way.
Ash and co. gets stagnant because the only REAL reason to keep watching is for the major battles. He can still be on his journey, but it doesn't hurt to shift the spotlight either. So maybe it should adopt a shifting perspective like Gundam or something.
