I've got nothing better to do today. if anyone would like to help recommend 3rd gen sprites that i can splice and edit heavily to make Team Edgy grunts go right ahead. I can do a lot of scratch work but I prefer to have at least a couple bases.

Last thread we had a story going that the MC was the grandchild of characters only known as Grandma and Grandpa.

The grandma was a typical old lady who sits in her chair and knits all day in front of a stove, and was also the games "professer".

The Grandpa was the E4's champion, who believes he is a wizard.

The whole point of the game was your Grandma wants you to go get your Grandpa for dinner, and wants you to collect all the pokemon in the dex so she can knit plushies of them. You're held back in your quest by having to beat the gyms in order to get past the E4 guards, and you decide to stop Team Edgy after seeing thier antics.

Is that still the story?

Also I would like to add to this story by suggesting that once you are done with the main quest and your Grandpa is back home, the stove sprite is no longer "burning", and your Grandma gifts you a slugma. Oh and faraway island could be where Jirachi is hanging out, and you have to get him in the postgame.

sounds right to me. I still hold that the pokedex is a scrapbook. Also certain changes include: soda machines are now hot drink machines (hot coco, etc) HMs are possible comfy traveling items, and healing items are foods like pie.

I like the slugma idea.

I'm thinking lots of grassy areas and caves to be a tad more cosy than usual, with lava pits with those sandbed things from RSE nearby. Also if you're gonna do water routes, make sure they have interesting side areas, such as the abanded ship from RSE too. Oooooh, maybe such an area could be a Team Edgy base?

areas with any cave or fire pokemon should include little hot springs everywhere that you can jump in whenever. perhaps nature should seem as though it wants the people to be comfortable.

I'm surprised everyone's so concerned about the pokemon. It's an extremely gimmicky setup so I'm okay with a little challenge when it comes to having a team. if you diversify too much or try to fit in pokemon for sparse reasons, it looses the novelty.

Like I said, there's only one sharp spike. Look at Lapras. Some of the spikes on it's back are sharp. This guy may be a little spiky, but he still looks so comfy it's crazy.

A thought leaps to mind- with how poison reduces health every few steps, would it be possible for onsen to restore health to your party? I don't know if it'd be possible within the scope of the hack, but it'd be nice to slack off for a few minutes in a hot spring to rest your Pokemon in the middle of a tough area, rather than having to scramble to a Center (or B&B as proposed in the last thread). I think the "comfy" should be explored more deeply. It could basically be an extension of eastern philosophies of live and let live, and represent peace, love, and tranquility. Team Edgy could be the opposite; western ideals of conquest, ego, and imposition of force.

I figure since the plot is something as light as "going to get grandpa", beating the team and that plot should be pretty light too. Maybe can play up the "what this random kid dismantled our organization??" aspect? Kid in his/her jammies is just trying to get to the E4. Takes down the Edges while taking it easy.

so here's the first thing that came to mind when I thought of a comfy region with edgy villians

1) Forest with cute pokemon and snow white shit
2) Lake where kids go to get comfy and relax
3) The only edgy place in the region where team edgy made their base, no one else even knows it is there
4) Hot springs because who doesn't think hot springs re comfy as fuck
5) WARM mountain possible lava
6) Tropical island with nice surroundings and hardly any people
7) biggest village, they make bouncy castles so it has to be big
8) beach just cuz
9) plains where you can lay down in the grass, or have some games

Comfy and Edgy are two different regions.

Maybe team Edgy are actually "soldiers" from the rival nation of Edgy, and our trainer guy has to journey to the Edgy region to put a stop to it (and catch some edgy-looking mons that are actually giant softies)

We should add Zoroark/Zorua to the catchable edgy mons, they're too fluffy to not do it.

Comfy could be Fairy/Flying and by largely defensive with high HP and low offense and speed while edgy could be Fire/Dark and a glass cannon.

Umbreon is pretty comfy, but he could be edgy for our purposes.
I figured there'd be text options to be nice or naughty (like, saying yes or "lel you deserved it im glad you got robbed), and little sidequests you could skip

Maybe there'd be a slider where if you do more comfy than edgy, you get sylveon, but espeon and jolteon are more neutral good/evil if you get my meaning

I think we could use the happiness thing as the comfy meter. Get 2 of them, and name one comfy and the other edgy. The more edgy things that you do the higher up the edgy counter goes up and the same with comfy. Then the equation to figure out which one you would get is (c - e) * 1.6 / 2.
Assuming the scale would be a percentage.
It would be a scale from 0 - 80.
0 to 10 would be the edgiest
10 to 20 would be the next etc
until
70 to 80 would be the most comfy
