Tepig isn't that bad actually. But if I had to choose he'd be my least favorite.
Pignite and Emboar however... they're bipedal pigs cool but they're literally a blob with teeth a unibrow and unproportionate arms. Look at Grumpig and you can tell it still has some shape to it. Emboar and Pignite are literally blobs. Not to mention they're the third fire fighting type in a row. Emboar has these pants type of things on the bottom part of his body that looks kind of silly. I get that the black on his arms are supposed to be a type of glove but it looks like a glove a woman would wear EX: Cinderella. I get Emboar is a Fire type but you don't just slap fire shit where his neck is supposed to be. The unibrow makes him look sillier

Oh I agree, but I just wanted to know why people hated Tepig. In the first three gens I chose the water types, but for Gen IV and V I chose the fire starters, and I absolutely hate their final forms.

Before Unova there was a grand total of 1 fire type (other than the starter) available before the third gym (Ponyta in Sinnoh and even then, only after the second gym). Meanwhile, water and grass types are fucking everywhere. This means that if you wanted to use a team with a fire type early on you had to take the fire starter. By the time B/W came out it was a joke that the new fire type would be fire/fighting.

While Gamefreak improved the availability of various types in B/W the fact remains that 4 straight fire/fighting starters is retarded.

Not entirely true. You could get a Slugma in HG/SS and the Ponyta didn't require the 2nd gym badge to get.

Even if fennekin did end up being fire/fighting, I wouldn't mind all that much because I know it would end up being one of the strongest starters overall. Unless they decide to have it evolve into some random unrelated animal, it's obvious that it will be fast and not very bulky so it would have stats similar to infernape, with the possible exception of being focused on one attacking type as opposed to mixed.

Also I've never bothered with any fire starters before because they've always looked like ass. Gen 6 is the first where grass isn't the objective best.

I was honestly shocked to find an Ice type in gen 5 before the 7th gym. I wonder since we (theoretically) might be getting an early fire type in Talonflame we might see an early Dragon due to the new fairy type. Ice has no shot seeing as how the ice mountain is on the complete opposite side of the starter town on the map.
