Are you fucking blind? The Gen 1 fight screen was up before the "what will Honedge do?" prompt even appeared, and that's not even taking into consideration the fact that he didn't have fast text on for Gen 1 or 2 and paused a few moments in every gen but 5.

Those are really bad clips to use for comparison. The Gen 3 and Gen 5 clips have text speed set to fast, and in the Gen 5 clip, the player clearly pressed the A button to make it go faster. The Gen 1, 2, and 4 clips have text speed at mid, and they didn't press the button to make the text go faster. Awful, just awful

It is neat to see wild battles through the ages side-by-side, though

IV barely beat out II, and the text speed difference would either mitigate the different between II and III, or put II above it.

It was in auto text.

And regardless on whether you press A to scroll text, Gen 5 battle text speed is really fast. Battle text is unaffected by text speed in the menu btw. You can see that by comparing the "forget a move" message in HGSS to BW.

Ahaha, what? Like, text during the actual battle? I've got to be misunderstanding you and you're communicating your thoughts poorly, because that's the primary reason people turn on fast text in the first place.

Just tried; if it is, then it's something that'd have to be timed and compared, because I didn't notice a difference.

Anyways, I don't think that was the original guy's point. VI isn't faster than I, and if you're going to do a comparison, you need to have all variables set the same.

The reason gen 2 is so long is because Crystal had those annoying intro animations that slowed things way down.

GS had significantly faster battle intros. Crystal extended them (and had a couple of Pokemon with annoying long animation, like Gyrados).
