Well we have a lot that still needs to be done really
There's only been a few town concepts, so a few more would help
The trainer classes that we have done need teams, so if you're good with competitive battle, I could drag out the dex for this so you could do that
otherwise it's just sprites until we get a bit more than a basic idea of the region

you make your way through the region and town to town, we're not yet sure how badges are received
We're playing with the idea of your 'rival' being your sleepy best friend whom you battle to wake up often, as they tend to nap in your way
Team edgy is the evil team, I haven't seen that we have agreed on a reason of why they keep battling you though

The person who made the original idea had specified which areas were which, but I didn't save that map so I made this mostly from memory.

Also Edgy Region is another region the player will explore after the Comfy Region. We haven't decided whether to include it post-game or in a sequel

First time I've seen this project, or at least paid attention to it, but I must point out that OP's picture has R/S/E sprites and D/P/Pt sprites mixed.

ok so ive noticed the edge dex has a fair amount of legendarys.
i know the comfy has the lake guardians but i feel like we have the prime opportunity to use the legendary birds
they could be seen as the protectors of comfy
articuno at the snowy mountain
zapdos at the lighthouse
and moltres at the hotsprings?
each of which holds part of the stable balance of the area and to get them to battle you so you may capture them you must bring them 3 of a certain type pokemon to fill the role they once held
like bring 3 mareeps to zapdos to take his place in the lighthouse and he will accept your challenge to join your side, seeing as you care for the comfy region enough to hold the balance

You could modify the evolutions. IE Caterpie evolves into either Metapod or Cascoon, than evolves again into either beedrill, butterfree, buetafly, and Dustox. Get rid of lower bird levels and catch fully evolved birds later on.

Yeah I already kept the original spriter's custom hair color as well.

By the way: spriters. If you need palettes not available on the sprite you're working on, steal it from another sprite. Find a girl with a pink dress if you need pink, etc. Making your own colors could cause issues later.

I made a rail map with two lines, the white line and the black line. Let me explain:

At the beginning you are not able to use the train at all. When you visit town 3, you will be able to travel with the white line to the swamp area. This is the only way to get there. Here you can catch Pokémon similar to the Great Marsh. You are not able to travel to city 5 yet, so you have to walk over town 4. After you have defeated the gym leader of city 5, you are able to take the black line to the swamp area and the white line to the coast near town 1. After you have passed the cubby cave, you may take the whole white line. The stations in the towns 10 and 13 are available as soon you defeated the gym leader of the corresponding city.

What do you think about this comfy idea?

Swamps aren't comfy, though.

Unless they're super rainy and the main part of the swamp is a heated indoor facility with cocoa, and it's raining outside. And you can see the swamp from the windows.

Swamps are very comfy because mud earth is a well-known nature medicine and is good for relaxing and beauty. The swamp is a national park and you can see very many comfy Pokémon if you look out of the window, for example the fluffy Azurill or the chubby Wooper.

It needs to be 15 for the actual sprite part.

The last color is for an invisible background layer, and you can't have it anywhere on the sprite itself without it disappearing.

Unless this is RPGmaker for sure.
Then just do whatever you feel like.

Themes are nice but... you're going to a gym. Gym Pokemon are tough already, and not having a weakness to focus on (a plushie gym might have whimsicott or marrep- flying works for one, but not the other) and that can mean defeat or victory.
I think it won't be necessary for you to win, but it'll make completionists very frustrated and feel uncomfy. A sucker punch now and again is refreshing, but a pummeling isn't, you know?

That one looks great but if you want to steal a palette, use Jigglypuff or Clefairy. Could you gen III-ify the whole Pokedex? Keep in mind you'd only have to do the ones that don't have sprites.

Also, it'll likely need a backsprite.

They're in the wrong style, too, and there are a lot of Pokemon that are awkwardly missing. Gen IV's style is robotic, static, and cold, while Gen III's is warm, colorful, and... well, comfy. It also matches all the trainers and tiles we're using.

Snowy town has many evergreen trees, almost as if it's nestled into the forest itself. Maybe only small paths between buildings. Trainers on the way there and within the gym have a "bundled up" theme. I think we should avoid anything too "christmasy", just wintery, but perhaps gym leader resembles santa claus? Feels like a cabin town in the mountains. Maybe a few super small hot springs at the edge of town. Dotted like they're part of the natural landscape. BG music should be super silent and minimal.

Not really. In gen III, Pokemon had relatively tiny movesets, so we'll have a lot to work with.

ah. well, it's pretty rough for sure... my suggestion would be to recolor his standard clothes gray and then erase the break between his shirt and pants, and unwanted seams after doing that, and adjusting the outlines where necessary. that way you retain the original sprite's shading and stuff. you know how to do the eraser tool + right-click thing, right?
