It looks and plays a whole lot better, building on most of the concepts of the original while veering off into a less Pokemon-but-worse-in-every-way direction, and the characters and scenarios are memorably bizarre and light-hearted.
Oh man, the bathtub time machine, the whole alien schoolgirl romance sidequest, the skewering of Apple and Microsoft, those not-so-evil cyborg minibosses, the bizarre spirits you can call on to provide good or bad or completely annoying temporary benefits at random... The game just keeps you guessing the whole way through.
